The Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia is home to three interconnected urban centers known as the "Triplet Cities": Dammam, Khobar, and Dhahran. This lively metro area has a combined population of over 2.7 million people, making it one of the most important regions in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh. Dammam is the economic hub of the Eastern Province and a key spot for international trade.

Dammam, the provincial capital, is Saudi Arabia's sixth largest city and the center of local governance. Sitting on the coast of the Persian Gulf, Dammam has come a long way from being a small fishing village to a bustling industrial and commercial port. Its prime location and solid infrastructure make it a gateway for the whole Eastern Province, with easy access via King Fahd International Airport and the King Abdulaziz Port.

Khobar, just 10 kilometers east of Dhahran, has turned into the go-to place for residents and businesses in the Triplet Cities. Once a merchant and fishing town, Khobar now boasts a stunning 16-kilometer Corniche packed with international restaurants, shops, and boutiques. The lively waterfront area is a favorite for locals and tourists looking for great dining and entertainment with a view of the Persian Gulf.

Dhahran, positioned inland from Dammam and Khobar, is where you'll find the headquarters of Saudi Aramco, the world’s biggest oil company. This city is designed as a planned community with lots of residential areas, schools, shopping spots, and parks. Plus, it’s home to King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), which supports both industrial jobs and educational growth in the area.

These three cities keep their own charm while working together as a connected metro area thanks to modern highways. Highway 605 (the Dammam-Khobar Highway) and the Dhahran-Jubail Highway create solid transportation links throughout the Triplet Cities. The local economy leans heavily on oil and petrochemicals, but tourism and business sectors are on the rise too.
